Thank you for this video! I found myself getting there with the constant buying….. I need this or that plant. I converted my formal living room into a plant room, filled it and that has now spilled over to my dining room. I’m an empty nester now and though I’ve always had plants, I’m becoming obsessed. I realize that. I really needed this wake up call. I’ll be making changes. I now have 64 plants in my home. I usually had about 15 or so. I also never had pests and now I started getting spider mites and more fungus gnats. Time for a reset. I’m going to gift a few and rethink my options. Thanks again!

So I decided that my fikus growing past 3 meters simply wasn't sustainable so I simply lopped the poor thing off. The tips were very healthy so I wanted to make those sprout. Here's my question: Do you debark or just leave it be? I've been rekommended both so just wondering if there's a best practice.

If you add some Ph balance / neutral regulator designed for fish tanks, it'll balance the acid levels in the water and encourage root growth.

Hey Harli! I have a question! I’m getting to where I’m going to stop buying plants but there’s one I’ve wanted for a while and don’t know if you have it in your collection. It’s called a scindapsus silver lady, are the care requirements about the same as a scindapsus exotica?

If you want it to flower, try old aquarium water. I grow my lilly in my aquarium using a hydroponic pot. It flowers constantly. Most fish keepers will happily share the water from their water changes.

I am not a beginner, but begonia and I don't get along very well. I have stopped trying with them. I will never bring a dieffenbachia into my house. I have cats and it is just not worth the risk.

Hi Harli I don't socially post. I have watched all your videos except the last month or so. I posted and was rejected. Word said the document had 3500 words, which might have been the reason. 😶That might need to be broken up into something smaller than Steven King novel. Bottom line. I have a price coming in on glass panels and a handyman ready to show off his skills in building a white shelf unit similar to what you filmed in front of. Except I know where the price is going to be. Aside from an extended piece for the TV area, it was to run the length of a 10' turn and have 2 pieces on each side of the patio window. I no longer live in the Detroit suburbs where you could get anything for a reasonable price. I am guessing those shelves are melamine. Would you please give me an idea of the size of the unit? Shelve size, number section. How large and most important where did you get it? My handyman is good so he can piece multiples together and make a hole for a 65" TV and still match up a lower middle and upper shelf to tie it all in. I could run down to Toledo and get the glass for nothing. After speaking with the glass place in town, they would have to order the panels. My only choice is to go with what you filmed in front of and have it customized. I really appreciate your content and style and what you don't edit out. Don't change a thing! I just found a cool vintage coffee decanter thing i want to use for either propagating or trying leca in. As well as a lamp that looks C shaped with a dome looking top and circle base. Wish i could post a pic. Hoping to make it into a succulent grow light or something

Yes the planter combination is very important I personally prefer clear nursery pot with a cover pot though they can be expensive but I do enjoy thifting them. I have experimented with some no drainage as I am more experienced now and seems to be going on x

Describing low light tolerant as “slow dying” is hilarious and very accurate. We should really start saying that instead because I have given too many people snake plants and zz plants, saying they are low light tolerant. Really what I should be saying is they will die much slower than other plants in low light.

Holy smokes. My algorithms done me wrong. I haven't seen Harli in over a year.

I prefer grey or white planters but love the cost and eco friendly nature of terra cotta, so I intend to buy the modern-shaped clay pots and paint them in paints I have already for my house trim.

The milion dollar question here is when you are on holidays HOW can somebody else know how much to water each plant - especially the ones without a drainage hole...

I prefer the used/old look of terracotta as well…but some of the unsealed stuff can grow actual mold that we don’t need inside our homes (for sensitive people, like me ☹️).

You got me hooked on string plants any suggestion on a sallow bowl for string of turtles possibly a reuse idea.

Your philo Jose is so impressive especially since you don’t have it growing up a pole/support. I appreciate seeing climbing aroids that still grow well without having a big ugly pole haha I also agree about brand new terracotta looking ugly but loving patina! I am too busy to plant directly into terracotta now but I use them as cover pots, because they are my favorite aesthetic.

i am quite frustrated with very small terracotta pots, because i love the look of the small ones, but they dry out sooo quickly. I recently moved my small cacti and succulents into them, hope that works better
